Why Choose Non-woven Fabric as the Material for Medical Protective Suit?

In basic protection and medical work environments, we may encounter hazards such as bacteria, harmful ultrafine dust, acidic solutions, salt solutions, and corrosive chemicals. For these dangers, we need to use medical protective suit to protect workers' bodies. Protective clothing is also called workwear. What materials are medical protective suit made of?

Medical protective suit for basic protection work

Medical protective suit is suitable for automotive, aerospace, food processing, metal processing, mining, oil and gas operations. It usually covers from the head to the shoulders, down to the body, with tightened cuffs and pants. Protective clothing is needed in the workplace to effectively block the entry of dust and solid particles. It is comfortable and breathable to wear and does not easily accumulate dust. Medical protective suit has strong protective properties and can block slight splashes in low-risk areas.

This type of medical protective suit is made of non-woven fabric. The structure of nonwoven fabric materials, characterized by super fine meltblown fiber layers and high-strength spunbond non-woven fabric layers, gives the material certain resistance to hydrostatic pressure and breathability, forming the basic isolation performance of the material. In addition, non-woven fabrics also have barrier properties and are used for various protective clothing products, including high-end and low-end medical protective suit, industrial protective clothing, chemical protective clothing, etc.

Understanding medical protective suit

Medical protective suit is the workwear for medical personnel, that is, the protective clothing for the bodies of medical personnel. It is mainly used to isolate bacteria, harmful ultrafine dust, acidic solutions, salt solutions, corrosive chemicals, and maintain a clean environment.

This type of medical protective suit can be made of the following materials:

  • The characteristics of medical protective suit using ordinary PP nonwoven fabric are breathable, dustproof, not waterproof, and good tensile strength, without significant differences between the front and back.

  • The characteristics of medical protective suit using coated non-woven fabric are: impermeable, waterproof, good antibacterial effect, clearly distinguishable between the front and back. The non-woven fabric in contact with the body is non-allergenic and feels good. There is a layer of plastic film on the outside to prevent liquid leakage, which can be used in cases of contamination and viruses.

  • Medical protective suit made of SMS non-woven fabric: three-layer composite non-woven fabric, middle waterproof and antibacterial layer, outer layer of SMS non-woven fabric, high strength, tensile resistance, waterproof, and breathable.

  • Medical protective suit made of breathable film-coated non-woven fabric is made of PP and polypropylene, with a PE film on the outside, strong air permeability, better water resistance, high impact resistance, and resistance to various organic solvents, acids, and alkalis. Its characteristic is that the sweat of the human body can be released to the outside, while harmful gases and moisture from the outside cannot invade.
